Norman Stovall is the Director of Clinical Services at Resurgence Family Preservation Services. He specializes in Individual, Family, and Group Psychotherapy, as well as mental and behavioral health counseling from a clinically-focused, Biblically-based perspective. He has many years of experience providing mental and behavioral health treatment services to patients in hospital, non-profit, for-profit, institutional, and private practice settings. His areas of interest include: Pre-marriage and Marriage Counseling; Marital/relational conflict; Parent/child conflict; Phase of life problems; Anxiety; Depression; Loss and Grief; Family transition; School/academic problems; EAP and workplace issues; Child/Adolescent behavioral issues; and Life management problems.
His personable delivery style and disarming manner of relating to people from all walks of life allow him to connect with a broad audience. Using a biblical-scriptural foundation, he is able to assist others in meeting goals, or contending with issues such as: Growth and Renewal; Overcoming Addictive Behaviors; Loving Your Spouse Correctly; Getting Along with Difficult People; Overcoming Anxiety, Fear, and Depression; Parenting; and The Reality of This Life.
Norman believes that individuals make up families, which are the building blocks of our society. He bases his approach to treatment upon what he terms as “Duality Reality Therapy.” This modality meets the patient at their perception of reality. During the course of treatment, he assists the patient in comparing and contrasting their perception of reality, to reality based upon scripture. Duality Reality Therapy addresses root causes of issues, versus symptoms. This approach empowers patients to make lasting changes in their lives.
In addition to his license with the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Licensed Professional Counselors, Norman holds a license as a Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
